You should not pass overlays for regging through any nodes that might distort them, such as the Blur node, otherwise the reg-to drawing that is created will not match the shape of the overlay itself. However, you may use any of the Transform-type nodes to reposition the overlay. Overlays you're not using in the regging may pass through any node you like.
When you use the overlay for regging, the Image Processor will automatically trace its edges to create the reg-to drawing, which is then copied into its associated reg drawing(s). See Automatic creation of overlay drawings.
